The one thing that you should do is constantly add value. People do not want their social media feeds to be filled up with nonsense and things that are of no interest to them, especially if it is drivel and filler content that is not informative. That is why you have to always add value.
What this means is that if you were only posting promotional content until now, you have to stop doing that right away. That is a terrible idea and a sure way to drive away followers. The same goes for only posting links to your own blog or website. You have to be able to post links to other sites or just text content that does not contain any links to anywhere. You want to be able to add value without having to promote a product of yours or trying to send people to your website.
